Delecta Feature: Dallas Austin

Dallas Austin is nothing short of a legend. The Georgia native is a record producer, songwriter, musician, and film producer whose career stretches back over 25 years. He found early success in 1989 with his first production assignment, who was Joyce “Fenderella” Irby’s Motown song “Mr. DJ”. It reached number two on the Billboard R&B charts in the spring of that year. His success kept growing as he produced for the likes of Boyz II Men, Aretha Franklin, Madonna, Michael Jackson, and TLC, just to drop some casual names…

As his production career continued to thrive, Dallas Austin opened his own recording studio, DARP, in Atlanta. Over the years, he’s grown his list of job titles to include record label founder, owning Rowdy Records, Limp Records, and Volcano Records-associated label Freeworld. His success can also be found in the film industry, co-producing soundtracks for movies we all love, including Drumline. He’s been nominated for numerous awards, as well, such as Grammys for Album of the Year, Best R&B Song, and Song of the Year.

Dallas Austin continues to stretch himself across all genres, from hip-hop, r&b, pop, and now electronic music. He has joined forces with Delecta Record’s own Cedric Gervais and Digital Farm Animals to co-write and feature in the new banger “Touch The Sky”. Listen on Spotify here.
